NEW DELHI — In a landmark day for Indian sports at the 2026 Asian Games, the Indian contingent recorded historic triumphs across cricket, archery, and golf on Day 15, bringing India’s gold medal tally to 19 and pushing the overall medal count over 80.

The headline performance of the day came from the men’s cricket team, which defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 19 runs in a high-stakes final to claim the gold medal. Defending a target of 212, India held off a spirited chase led by Pakistan’s Hasan Nawaz to seal victory.

Historic Achievements in Archery and Golf

Earlier in the day, archer Kumkum Mohod written her name into the history books by winning the gold medal in the women’s individual recurve event. This victory marked India’s 200th gold medal across all editions of the Asian Games and secured her a direct berth for the Los Angeles Olympics. Mohod had previously anchored the women’s team to a historic recurve gold.

In men’s archery, Neeraj Chauhan added to the medal chest by capturing a bronze in the men’s individual recurve event.

India’s dominance extended to the golf course, where Pranavi Urs captured the gold medal in the women’s individual event, while the Indian women’s golf team clinched a silver medal.

The Race for 5th Spot in Asian Games Medal Standings

India remains locked in a direct battle with Uzbekistan for the 5th spot in the overall medal standings. While Uzbekistan holds 21 gold medals, India stands close behind at 19 gold medals with key finals remaining in wrestling and hockey.
