In a profound loss to Indian cinema, legendary actor and National Film Award winner Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday morning at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, following a severe cardiac arrest. He was 75 years old.
According to family sources, the actor was found unconscious at his home and was immediately rushed to Manipal Hospital, where medical staff made extensive CPR efforts before declaring him dead. His son, Malhar Patekar, confirmed the news of his demise to local media.

Born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Murud-Janjira, Maharashtra, the veteran star carved a distinct space in both Hindi and Marathi cinema through his intense dialogue delivery, realism, and unmatched screen presence.
Over a career spanning over four decades, Nana Patekar earned immense critical acclaim and public adoration. He was honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, along with three National Film Awards for his remarkable performances in Parinda, Krantiveer, and Agnisakshi.
His roles in mainstream blockbusters such as Welcome, Raajneeti, and Ab Tak Chhappan demonstrated a rare versatility that seamlessly bridged art-house cinema with commercial hits.
