Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal has officially apologised to veteran singer Daler Mehndi following the controversial interruption of his performance in Uttarakhand. Responding to the development, fellow singer Mika Singh’s team released a statement welcoming the apology and emphasising the vital importance of respecting artists’ dignity.
The controversy originally erupted when Daler Mehndi’s live performance at the Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Uttarakhand was abruptly halted. Allegations were raised by the minister regarding lip-syncing and alcohol consumption at a religious event during Navratri, sparking widespread debate across the entertainment industry.
Mika Singh’s Team Issues Official Statement
In the wake of the apology, Mika Singh’s team shared an official statement highlighting the stature of the veteran artist and the gracious telephonic conversation that resolved the friction:
“We appreciate that Subodh Uniyal ji has apologised to Daler Mehndi paaji over a telephonic conversation regarding the unfortunate incident. Respecting artists and their dignity is extremely important. Daler paaji is a senior artist who has contributed immensely to the music industry, and every artist deserves to be treated with respect.”
The statement further added a note of closure, stating: “We hope this matter can now be put behind us and everyone can move forward with mutual respect and understanding.”
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Intervenes
The apology follows proactive diplomatic steps taken by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Earlier, Mika Singh revealed that CM Dhami had personally reached out to both brothers to offer an apology on behalf of the cabinet minister and invited them back to the state.
During a press interaction, Mika praised the Chief Minister’s humble approach, noting that Dhami’s gracious intervention helped de-escalate tensions and prevent the controversy from dragging on further.
With the minister’s formal apology and the acceptance from the artists’ camp, the music fraternity is looking to move past the incident and refocus on cultural celebrations.
