Mumbai | June 28, 2025 : In a shocking turn of events, actress and dancer Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout appearance in the early 2000s remix hit Kaanta Laga and a key supporting role in the Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar-starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, has tragically passed away. She was reportedly brought dead to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai late Friday night.
According to journalist Vickey Lalwani, Shefali was brought to the hospital around 11:25 PM on June 27. A member of the hospital’s reception staff confirmed the unfortunate news, stating,” Shefali had expired before she was brought in. Her husband and a few others accompanied the body”.
The exact cause of death has not yet been disclosed, and no official statement has been issued by her family at the time of reporting.
Shefali Jariwala shot to fame in 2002 with her electrifying performance in the remix of Kaanta Laga, which became a cultural phenomenon and earned her the nickname ‘The Kaanta Laga Girl’. Her bold persona, distinctive dance moves, and striking screen presence instantly made her a household name. She later expanded her presence in the entertainment industry with her role in the 2004 Bollywood comedy Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, where she shared screen space with Bollywood heavyweights Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.
Over the years, Shefali continued to remain in the public eye through television appearances and reality shows, including Bigg Boss 13, where she was appreciated for her composed demeanor and strong personality.
Tributes from fans and fellow celebrities have begun to pour in across social media platforms, with many expressing disbelief and sorrow at the sudden loss. The entertainment fraternity remembers her not just for her early fame but for her resilience and grace in an often turbulent industry.
