Dhurandhar Part 2 Movie Review: A Cinematic Masterstroke on National Security and Sovereign Grit

By Kushinara MD

The curtains rose today across the capital to thunderous applause as Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar Part 2 made its monumental debut. While Part 1 laid the groundwork in the gullies of Lyari, this sequel elevates the stakes to the very corridors of power in New Delhi, delivering a cinematic experience that is as much a political statement as it is an action powerhouse.

The Architect of a New India

The film opens with a sequence that sent a palpable surge of energy through the theater: the meticulously staged swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. This isn’t just a cameo; it serves as the ideological anchor of the film.

The narrative bravely tackles one of the most significant chapters of modern Indian history—demonetisation. Dhar portrays this move not merely as a fiscal policy, but as a surgical strike against the fake currency conduits that had long plagued our borders. The film illustrates how the decision, timed during the high-stakes Uttar Pradesh Elections, effectively choked the “bloodline” of terror funds flowing from Pakistan through the porous Nepal border, successfully neutralizing a multi-decade conspiracy to destabilize the Indian economy.

Justice Delivered: The Atif Ahmed Encounter

In a bold creative choice, the film depicts the encounter of gangster Atif Ahmed. Rather than a standard police procedural, the movie frames this as a necessary dismantling of a deep-seated nexus that sought to compromise the Indian government from within. It is a raw, unflinching look at the “zero-tolerance” policy that has come to define the current era of internal security.

Powerhouse Performances

The ensemble cast brings a level of gravitas rarely seen in the spy-thriller genre:

• Ranveer Singh: Continuing his evolution, Singh’s “Hamza” is now a seasoned operative. He balances the vulnerability of an undercover agent with the lethal precision of a nationalist soldier.

• R. Madhavan: As the IB Chief (modeled after India’s top security advisors), Madhavan’s calm, calculated demeanor provides the perfect counterpoint to the chaotic world of espionage.

• Sanjay Dutt & Akshaye Khanna: Their screen presence remains unmatched, adding layers of grit and complexity to the battle between the law and the underworld.

• Arjun Rampal: His portrayal of the ISI mastermind is chillingly effective, making the eventual triumph of the Indian forces feel earned.

Verdict

Dhurandhar Part 2 is a rare breed of cinema that doesn’t just entertain—it informs and inspires. It is a tribute to the strategic foresight of the Indian leadership and the bravery of those who execute these missions in the shadows. For the readers of the New Delhi Chronicle, this is more than a movie; it is a mirror to a resilient, rising India.
