Leh, Ladakh – Veteran actor and parliamentarian Sunny Deol recently had a memorable encounter with Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama during a visit to Ladakh. The actor described the meeting as an experience filled with “deep honour and gratitude.”
Deol, who is currently travelling through the picturesque Himalayan region, took to Instagram to share a photo capturing the serene moment. In the image, the actor is seen bowing respectfully as the Dalai Lama gently holds his hand and touches it to his forehead—an affectionate and symbolic gesture. Sunny, dressed casually in a black jacket and jeans, appeared visibly moved and joyful.
Captioning the post, Deol wrote, “A moment of deep honour and gratitude. Met His Holiness, The Dalai Lama during my journey through the serene landscapes of Ladakh. His presence, wisdom, and blessings filled my heart with peace. Truly unforgettable.” The post was geo-tagged from Leh, underscoring the peaceful setting of their encounter.
This meeting comes just weeks after Hollywood actor Richard Gere participated in the 90th birthday celebrations of the Dalai Lama held in Dharamshala. A long-time supporter of the Tibetan cause, Gere lauded the Dalai Lama as a rare embodiment of compassion, wisdom, and selflessness. Reflecting on his own spiritual journey, he remarked that the teachings of the Dalai Lama brought new meaning to the concept of compassion, especially when paired with wisdom.
As Sunny Deol’s post continues to receive widespread appreciation, the moment stands as a reminder of the enduring influence of the Dalai Lama and the deep spiritual resonance he inspires across generations and cultures.
