Internal bickerings in Trinamool Congress before elections exposed via Whats app chats

NDC DESK

Internal infighting within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) brought to light after recent leaks of Whats app chats and video footage . It exposes party leaders expressing dissatisfaction with the leadership, including comments from Kirti Azad, Shatrughan Sinha, and Mahua Moitra.

TMC MPs Mahua Moitra and Kalyan Banerjee were involved in a verbal fight at the Election Commission of India office in New Delhi on April 4, 2025.

The disagreement reportedly stemmed from Mahua Moitra’s name being omitted from a memorandum the party intended to submit. Kalyan Banerjee allegedly reacted strongly, leading to a heated exchange. In The alleged WhatsApp chats leak , Banerjee is alleged to have referred to Mahua Moitra in a chat with MP Kirthi Azad as a “ versatile international lady’’ while making comments about her personal life.

Kirti Azad, in turn, replying to Banerjee criticised him for his behaviour and asked him to behave properly and respect women colleagues.

Couple of years back Shatrughan Sinha, a senior TMC leader, publicly expressed dissatisfaction with his role in the party. He felt that, despite his high-profile switch from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to TMC in 2019, his contributions were not adequately recognised.

kirthi Azad has also complained against party’s behaviour in not accommodating him in decision makings in the party or the government.

Nothing is going right within the TMC Party ahead of elections.
