Over 80 Youth Congress Office-Bearers Suspended After Skipping Ramlila Maidan Rally

By Political Bureau | New Delhi Chronicle

NEW DELHI — In a major organizational crackdown, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) leadership has suspended between 80 and 100 office-bearers across multiple states for failing to attend the high-profile opposition rally held at Delhi’s historic Ramlila Maidan.

The disciplinary action targets key state functionaries and district leaders primarily from Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, sending a strong message against internal indiscipline within the party’s youth wing.

Digital Attendance Exposes Absentee Leaders

The political rally, organized by opposition parties in the national capital to protest alleged discrepancies regarding the Election Commission and vote manipulation, was deemed mandatory for all office-bearers by the national leadership.

To ensure compliance, the IYC deployed digital monitoring systems, including:

The “With IYC” mobile app for mandatory event check-ins.

Barcode scanners at rally entry points to verify real-time presence.

The digital tracking data revealed that several key local functionaries and district presidents failed to register their attendance despite explicit, top-down instructions to mobilize forces and attend in person.
