BJP MLA Muniratna arrested in Bangalore on charges of defaming Dalits, Vokkaligas and extorting money from contractors

NDC Desk

Karnataka Bjp MLA, Muniratna Naidu was arrested today afternoon in Kolar on charges of extortion, defamation, atrocities on Dalits and defaming the Vokkaliga Community. The FIR was filed at the vyakikaval police station based on a complaint by BBMP contractor Cheluvaraju against Muniratna and two of his associates

In a conversation with cheluvaraju over phone of which the audio was leaked and became viral across state, Muniratna is clearly heard saying cheluvaraju to make his wife sleep with hum if he can’t pay bribe .He repeats it again asking his community. When Cheluvaraju says he’s a Vokkaliga, Muniratna again says ‘ask your wife to sleep with me ‘.

The Dalits across Karnataka started taking objection and filed police complaint against Muniratna ‘s words where he asks Cheluvaraju to abstain from associating with a ‘Holeya ‘ community person .

The Holeyas belong to the peasant community who form the major population of the Schedule Castes and also a folk type of society in karnataka who are 17 percent of the state’s population of which the total schedule caste population is 27 percent. The vokkaligas, also known as ‘Gowdas’ are the landlord community who command political authority over the old Mysore regions.

With By-elections and panchayat polls nearing ,this incidence may prove disasterous to BJP in karnataka as the vokkaligas and Dalits have always been a deciding factor in Karnataka politics. It has to be noted that whenever these two communities voted in tandem to a particular party, that party has ruled the state always.Rajarajeshwarinagar assembly constituency which Muniratna represents incidentally has Vokkaligas and Dalits as major voters who are around 2 lakhs out of 3 lakhs voters.
