INDIA Bloc Unveils ‘Public Impeachment’ Resolution Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar; Rahul Gandhi Leads ‘Chalo Dilli’ March

NEW DELHI — Escalating its ongoing tussle with the poll panel, the opposition INDIA bloc has intensified its offensive against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The alliance formally passed a unanimous resolution for a “public impeachment” of the CEC, accusing the poll body of handling the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls with severe irregularities.

Led by senior leaders, including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, the opposition is mobilizing a massive public turnout for the upcoming Chalo Dilli march heading toward Ramlila Maidan.

Kharge Levels Key Charges Against the Poll Panel

During a high-level coordination meet at 10, Rajaji Marg, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge leveled multiple charges against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Kharge reiterated that the opposition holds no personal malice against the election authorities but demands absolute transparency and impartiality from constitutional institutions.

The opposition’s core grievances center around:

Demanding an immediate halt to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Seeking amendments to the 2023 legislation governing the appointment of election commissioners.

Protesting alleged mass deletions and structural data manipulation within voter databases.

Broad Opposition and Youth Front Support

The mobilization has drawn wide support from regional outfits, student wings, and civic groups. The All India Students’ Association (AISA), led by President Neha Bora, has thrown its weight behind the movement, urging young citizens to protect their constitutional right to vote. Similarly, political groups like the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), founded by Abhijeet Dipke, have extended full backing to the coalition’s public rally.

The Route and Security Measures

With security heavily fortified across central Delhi, Rahul Gandhi has invited citizens across demographics to join the march. The planned route spans from the Connaught Place Minto Road Junction through Ajmeri Gate, culminating in a mega-public address at the historic Ramlila Maidan.

As political lines harden, the ruling administration has defended the transparency of the electoral update process, setting the stage for a high-stakes political showdown in the national capital.
