With this historic victory, Neeru became the first Indian woman to win an individual gold in trap shooting at the continental showpiece.

Her triumph also ended a staggering 48-year wait for an Indian gold in individual trap, making her the first shooter from the country to scale the top of the Asiad podium in the discipline since Randhir Singh won the men’s event in 1978.

Exhibiting remarkable consistency across rounds, Neeru delivered a high-caliber performance under testing weather conditions. In the final, she hit a stunning 28 out of 30 targets, establishing a new Asian record and Asian Games record in the process.
