Kerala Actor Devan Quits BJP to Join Vijay’s TVK, Calls BJP a ‘Big Zero’

NEW DELHI — Veteran actor-turned-politician Devan has formally announced his resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to join the Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Slamming his former party, Devan stated that the BJP had failed to bring any real political change in Kerala and termed its presence in the state as a “big zero.”

Devan, who previously served as a state vice-president for the BJP in Kerala, revealed that he was left without any meaningful responsibilities during his five-year tenure with the party.

Disillusionment with the BJP

Speaking about his departure, Devan expressed frustration over the lack of space and operational freedom within the party hierarchy.

“I have been with them for the last five years. Working in the sense that I have been simply sitting there. They will not give me any job,” Devan told reporters after submitting his resignation.

He further added:

“They are a big zero when it comes to changing the existing political system here. People want a change.”

Leadership Offer from TVK

The resignation triggered swift political moves, with multiple political parties reaching out to the veteran leader. Devan confirmed that while leaders from the Indian National Congress and other smaller political outfits approached him, he chose to align with actor C. Joseph Vijay’s TVK.

According to Devan, TVK’s leadership reached out to him on the very day he announced his exit from the BJP.

 State Leadership Role: TVK leadership has verbally offered Devan the position of Kerala State President.

 Formal Decision Pending: Final approval rests with TVK President Vijay following upcoming discussions.

 Upcoming Meeting: A high-level meeting with top TVK leaders is scheduled in Tamil Nadu for September 10, after which a formal announcement will be made.
