In a sharp political address, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the era of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was nearing its end, urging citizens to gear up for change. Speaking at a public rally alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal suggested that Indian politics was entering a new phase.
“For decades, the Congress held power, then the BJP had its turn. Now, it’s time to turn the page,” he said, striking a combative tone. “The cycle of time moves on — the people are ready for a fresh alternative.”
The rally was held in support of AAP’s Dediapada legislator Chaitar Vasava, who is currently in custody. Vasava was arrested on July 5 following an alleged scuffle involving Sanjay Vasava, a local BJP leader, at a meeting in Dediapada. Authorities have charged him with attempted murder, a claim the party says is politically motivated.
Both Kejriwal and Mann used the platform to criticise what they called the misuse of state machinery to suppress opposition voices. The event marked another chapter in AAP’s ongoing confrontation with the BJP, especially in Gujarat, where the party is seeking to expand its influence.
