India will have six fighters vying for gold medals at the 2025 Seychelles National Day Boxing Tournament, with all eyes on Sunday’s finals at the Paradise Arena in Mahe following an impressive semifinal showing.
Aditya Pratap (65kg) from Uttar Pradesh, who previously competed at the Elorda Cup in Kazakhstan and secured silver at the National Combined Finals, delivered a commanding performance by defeating local contender Bouzin via RSC in the third round.
Neeraj (75kg), another National Combined silver medallist, followed suit with a dominant RSC stoppage in the second round of his semifinal bout.
In the 50kg category, Haryana’s Himanshu Sharma — a former Belgrade Boxing Champion and bronze medallist at the 6th Elite Nationals — outclassed Mauritius’ Mathieu Soupprayen, winning by a 4:1 split decision.
Ashish Mudshaniya (55kg), also from Uttar Pradesh and the current National Combined champion, kept his winning streak alive with a composed 4:1 victory over Guillaume Francis of Mauritius.
Anmol (60kg) of Haryana, a silver medallist at the National Combined, showcased grit and precision to edge past Seychelles’ Dario Gaberiel in another 4:1 split decision.
Meanwhile, in a hard-fought 70kg semifinal, Kartik Dalal came up short against South Africa’s Blessing Nziyana, losing 1:4 on points in a tightly contested match.
Wrapping up India’s medal hopes is heavyweight Gaurav Chauhan (+90kg) from Services, who was granted a direct berth into the final. The seasoned pugilist, who previously struck gold at the 37th National Games and earned bronze at the 2024 Elorda Cup, will aim to add another title to his résumé.
