Maharashtra voted for the most complex polls ever on 20th November. The voter turnout was the highest after 30 years in the history of Maharashtra elections . The voter turnout was 65.11% in the state exceeding the polling percentage of 2024 Loksabha elections ( 61.33%) and the 2019 assembly elections ( 60.5%). This turnout is the highest since 1995 assembly elections (71.7%).
‘ Quest Wave ‘ (A leading public opinion polling company specialising in political and public affairs , public policy research) which accurately analysed the 2024 Loksabha elections and Haryana assembly election results , predicts a close fight between the Mayayuti Government and Maha Vikas Aghadi Alliance. It predicts an edge to ruling Mahayuti Alliance and predicts close to 146 seats which is required to form the government.
MVA had all the sympathy and inclinations of the voters, but voting patterns favour the Mahayuti Government, who banked on development rather than caste based votes .
Marathas, OBCs and Dalits hold the key as they are in significant number spread across the state. Vidharbha and Marathwada, which voted in large numbers will also decide the fate of the government this time.
Kolhapur, which reported the highest turnout ever of 84.7 %, will also impact the state’s elections this time. This voter turnout percentage is also the highest in the state.
Government’s direct transfer benefit scheme for ladies and farmers, the farmers protest and anger against government will all play an important role in the election results.
Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, and Hingoli also reported highest number of votings. Vidharba and Marathwada being under developed for long years have burning issues in the agricultural sector. These factors are also decisive in the results. But MVA doesn’t seem to have capitalised on these issues.
