NEW DELHI — In a historic opening day for Indian cinema, the Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam: The Conclusion has taken the national box office by storm, delivering a monumental first-day collection of Rs 61 to 62 crore nett across domestic screens. The performance officially places the thriller as the third-highest opening day of all time for a Bollywood release, solidifying its status as an instant blockbuster.
The high-octane thriller has smashed previous career benchmarks for Ajay Devgn, easily surpassing the Rs 40.50 crore opening day record of his 2024 hit Singham Again.
Metro Belt Dominance: Delhi-NCR Leads the Rampage
While thrillers traditionally rely on steady word-of-mouth rather than massive opening-day surges, Drishyam: The Conclusion leveraged its established franchise power and a major national holiday to generate unprecedented footfalls.
Delhi-NCR & North India: The movie witnessed exceptional traction across the northern circuit. In the Delhi-NCR market, true opening-day business surpassed major releases from recent memory, setting a potential new benchmark for the Delhi-UP territory once final numbers are certified.
Mumbai & Pune Belt: Multi-plexes across Mumbai, Pune, and Gujarat posted packed auditoriums throughout the day. Lower ticket pricing strategies in certain Western circuits slightly tempered total revenue counts, but overall seat occupancy rates remained near capacity.
