Manju Warrier Files Defamation Suit Against Director Sanalkumar Sasidharan; Court Issues Injunction

KOCHI — Prominent Malayalam actor Manju Warrier has taken legal action against filmmaker Sanalkumar Sasidharan, filing an injunction suit before the Munsiff Court in Ernakulam over alleged defamatory content circulated across social media platforms.

The legal petition seeks to restrain the award-winning director from making or publishing further defamatory posts targeting the actor.

Injunction Issued Against Sanalkumar Sasidharan

Acting on interlocutory applications submitted by Ms. Warrier, the Ernakulam Munsiff Court granted an interim injunction against Mr. Sasidharan, strictly prohibiting him from uploading further online posts directed at the actor.

In addition to seeking relief against the filmmaker, Ms. Warrier’s petition named YouTuber Shajan Skariah and social media parent company Meta as respondents in the matter.

Court Orders Notice to Meta for Content Removal

Alongside the injunction against the filmmaker, the court issued a notice directing Meta to remove the existing alleged defamatory content targeting the actor from its social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.

The dispute marks the latest escalation in long-standing friction between the actor and the S Durga director, who has previously faced legal proceedings following complaints regarding alleged harassment and online target campaigns directed at Ms. Warrier.
