The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has significantly strengthened its maritime surveillance and security capabilities with the induction of Samudra Pratap, a powerful offshore patrol vessel whose name aptly means Majesty of the Seas. The new ship reflects India’s growing focus on safeguarding its vast coastline, exclusive economic zone, and critical sea lanes.

Designed to meet modern maritime challenges, Samudra Pratap embodies the Coast Guard’s core mandate of ensuring safe, secure and clean seas while protecting the nation’s maritime interests. With a displacement of 4,170 tonnes and a commanding length of 114.5 metres, Samudra Pratap is among the most capable platforms in the ICG’s fleet.
