Prem Sukh Delu – Interesting tale of a Patwari turned IPS officer who got 12 government jobs in 6 years

Prem Sukh Delu from being a Patwari ( village accountant) to an IPS officer

Hailing from a farmer’s family in Bikaner in Rajasthan, Delu became a Patwari with hard work. His efforts didn’t stop there and he prepared for the UPSC exam.

His hard work paid off and he got into the IPS. This was a new experience for Delu’s family, where the family head the father is a camel cart driver

Delu studied in a government school in his village, and graduated from the Government Dungar College in Bikaner. He did his MA in history and was a gold medalist. At the same time, he passed the UGC-NET and JRF examinations in History.

Not satisfied by just being a Patwari, he aimed for higher prospects in his career. While working as a Patwari, he also received a Masters degree and passed NET.

After becoming a Patwari, Delu secured the second rank in the Rajasthan Gram Sevak Examination, later topped in the Assistant Jailer examination across Rajasthan. Even before he joined as a jailer he had been selected as a sub-Inspector.

Later, he took up the job of a lecturer and started preparing for the Civil Services Examination.

In 2015, he cleared the UPSC exam in the second attempt. and opted for the Gujarat cadre. Delu’s first posting was as ACP in Amreli, Gujarat.
