A man may die but his music stays forever. And that holds befittingly true for the legendary music composer Ravindra Jain. Ravindra Jain was an acclaimed music personality and a genius who overcame his blindness to render soulful tunes in several films, including Chitchor, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se and Nadiya Ke Paar and achieved greatness. It is not just his compositions but also the poetry that was extraordinary.

Ravindra Jain was born blind on February 28, 1944 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He started his musical career in the early 1970s and went on to compose some of the most memorable numbers in superhit movies like Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, Chitchor, Chor Machaye Shor, Geet Gaata Chal, Shyam Tere Kitne Naam, Fakira, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, Nadiya Ke Paar, Henna, among many others. His iconic film tracks such as “Akhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se”, “Geet gaata chal”, “Gori tera gaon bada pyara”, “Jab deep jale aana”, “Tu jo mere sur mein”, “Le jaayenge le jaayenge”, “Ghungroo ki tarah” and ‘Kaun disha mein leke “ are always remembered with much fondness.

Ravindra Jain had a flourishing career, composing music for more than 150 films in Hindi as well as regional languages. He had composed songs for popular TV serials including Ramanand Sagar’s “Ramayan” and “Jai Hanuman”. His other popular works on the small screen include “Shri Krishna”, “Alif Laila”, “Jai Ganga Maiya”, “Jai Mahalaxmi”, “Sai Baba”, and “Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan.
