New Delhi: Block pramukh’s Candidate Ritu Singh for the recently concluded panchayat elections in Lakhimpur Kheri joined the Congress in the presence of Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in lucknow on Saturday.
Ritu Singh was a member of Samajwadi Party in the panchayat polls.
Ritu Singh had accused the BJP workers of misbehaving when she was on her way to forward the nomination papers.

During her visit to the state in July, Priyanka Gandhi had rushed to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet Ritu Singh after the incident.

Ritu Singh, who met Priyanka Gandhi along with her family members, said only the Congress could fight the atrocities being committed on common people.
Speaking to New Delhi Chronicle , UPCC Spokesperson Abbas Haider said ‘’Ritu singh joined congress as she is now aware its only Congress and Priyanka Gandhi who can galvanise the party rank here in state.
I’m sure that not only Priyanka Gandhi’s charisma will give a defeat to the BJP in the coming elections but also at the same time her mature political understanding of the state at the grassroot level will surely be a game changer for the state in over all developments of its people.
